Dear Husband: Hold My Hand Forever, Will You?
/
Dear husband,
I love when you hold my hand.
Hold my hand forever, will you?
I don’t mean to never let go, because when our hands are apart they are creating our life; but, I do ask you to please, always bring your hands back to mine.
When our hands are apart, they are busy building our lives, molding our family, painting our picture.
When our hands are apart, they are working and driving, they are folding and cooking, they are lifting and loading.
When our hands are apart, they are out there alone in some of our sad, scary, and stressful moments… and in some of our exciting, surprising, and joyful moments.
But, my dear husband, when our hands are together...
They are not alone. I am not alone. You are not alone. We are not alone.
To you, it might seem like a simple touch – no big gesture, nothing worth noting.
But to me, it is so much more.
To me, it is the connection I need to bring me to stillness amidst the chaos.
To me, it is the strength I need to awaken me to continue despite the exhaustion.
To me, it is the warmth I need to run through me to start my own fire from within.
To me, it is the hand I need to hold me when I spend most of my hours holding others.
So, I don’t mean to never let go, because when our hands are apart they are creating our life; but I do ask you to please always bring your hands back to mine.
To you, it might seem like a simple touch, but to me, it is everything.
It is love. It is our love. It is forever love.
